Joshua is the founder and CEO of Industrial Logic, a pioneering Extreme Programming/Lean consultancy that radically improves the software development capabilities of organizations around the globe.
In the mid-1990s, Joshua was among a small community of “lightweight methods” practitioners experimenting with better ways of developing software. Since then, he’s helped thousands of people across hundreds of organizations learn better ways of making software, carefully reviewing and revising methods with the greatest impact and return on investment. Today, he leads an effort to modernize Agile by removing outdated practices and leveraging the best of what the software community and other industries have learned about achieving awesome results. Joshua’s passion for programming began at an early age. As a teenager, he developed financial risk management systems for Bankers Trust. During and after college, he continued programming for this Wall Street Bank, where he used diverse languages and platforms to build large-scale credit-, market- and global-risk systems.
After seven years of working for Bankers Trust, Joshua had the vision to build his own company. Industrial Logic began in 1996 and quickly won a contract to develop the Java version of MTV.com with millions of users. The site won a prestigious PC Magazine award and helped put the company on the map.
Joshua’s passion for excellence in programming coupled with his love of learning and teaching led Industrial Logic to develop professional training for the high tech industry.
He created Agile/Lean assessments, training, coaching, eLearning and eCoaching that have fundamentally improved the performance of people and teams at Google, Nielsen Media Research, Fidelity Investments, GE, Sapient and many others. Joshua and his colleagues continue to produce state-of-the-art Agile eLearning that has helped thousands of people around the world gain critical Agile engineering and planning skills.
